The full version of the game is a lot like that except buggier and woefully incomplete. The stakes aren’t high, the pace is slow, and the progress is incredibly gradual, but I found the whole experience relaxing. Even though it wasn’t a huge cinematic masterpiece, I appreciated it in the same way I like Euro Truck Simulator, Viscera Cleanup Detail, or any of the Tycoon games when you aren’t just tormenting your innocent customers. I was secretly hoping for some sort of historical reenactment of being a happy prospector, but what I got was more in the vein of a simulation of being a gold digger in modern Alaska.
